One day after securing the Central Division title, Raptors 905 (34-11) clinched the Eastern Conference with an 117-99 victory over the Long Island Nets on Sunday evening. Axel Toupane led the 905 with his first double-double of the season, recording 20 points and 10 assists in the wire-to-wire victory. RJ Hunter led all scorers for the second straight game between the two teams, recording 26 points in the losing effort.
A 15-0 run to open the game set the tone for Raptors 905, who never allowed the Nets to get closer than two possessions. The 905 received 17-point efforts in the first half from Edy Tavares, who added nine rebounds, and Axel Toupane, who recorded nine assists in the opening 24 minutes. Hunter led the Nets with 13 points at the break.
Long Island would outscore Raptors 905, 57-51 in the second half, but were unable to threaten the 24-point lead the 905 had built in the first half. Cliff Alexander scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Nets in the second half to lead all scorers. E.J. Singler responded with 11 points for the 905 in the half to seal the teams 34th victory of the season.
