The NBA D-League Finals will be decided Thursday evening after Raptors 905 defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 95-85 Tuesday night. Pascal Siakam recorded an impressive 32-point, 10 rebound double-double in the victory. Kyle Wiltjer led the Vipers in defeat, posting his own double-double, scoring 25 points while adding 12 rebounds.
A closely contested first quarter set the tone for the evening, Raptors 905 holding a slight 23-22 advantage after the opening 12 minutes. Siakam established himself early, scoring nine points while adding two rebounds and three steals in the first. Chris Johnson and Darius Morris both posted seven points for RGV.
Raptors 905 built separation in the second frame, outscoring the Vipers 31-22 in the quarter. Siakam once again paced the 905 with 11 points, while Brady Heslip contributed eight points in the period. Wiltjer scored eight points as his Vipers went into the half trailing 54-44.
Wiltjer continued his strong play to open the second half, scoring 10 points for Rio Grande in the third, narrowing the 905 lead to six heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Vipers battled back to tie the game, 81-81, at the 4:28 mark of the quarter. Raptors 905 responded with a 7-0 run to regain control of the contest and close the game strong as Toronto Raptors assignees Bruno Caboclo, Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet scored the final 11 points for the 905 to seal the victory. Game Three will be held at Hershey Centre this Thursday at 7 PM.
