Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, announced its 2021-22 regular season schedule on Tuesday. The club will tip off its seventh season in the NBA G League at Paramount Fine Foods Centre on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the Westchester Knicks. Raptors 905 road debut is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at Long Island. Raptors 905 intend to return to Paramount Fine Foods Centre for its 2021-22 season.
New to the NBA G League for the 2021-22 season is the implementation of an innovative structure that will be broken into two parts. The first part will be a 14-game slate, culminating in the crowning of a champion at the Showcase Cup. The second part will be a traditional 36-game schedule, with playoffs to follow.
The Showcase Cup portion of the season will feature all 29 NBA G League teams, including Capitanes de la Ciudad de México (based in Fort Worth, TX) and additionally NBA G League Ignite as the participants. Teams will be split into four regional pods, playing 12 games against one another. Eight teams will qualify for the Showcase Cup: the top four teams in each pod and the four next-best win percentages across the league. The tournament will be held Dec. 19-22 and will reward a trophy and additional monetary prize to the competitors. Teams that do not qualify, will also compete at the Winter Showcase, but will not be entered into the tournament bracket.
The 36-game regular season schedule will reset all teams records and follow a traditional season format. Unique to this season is the removal of divisions, instead splitting the G League into Eastern and Western Conferences with no crossover in the regular season. The top six teams in each conference, determined by win percentage, earn a spot into the NBA G League Playoffs. NBA G League Ignite and Capitanes de la Ciudad de México will not participate in the regular season.
The longest home stand of the season is eight games from Jan. 20 – Feb. 5. The longest road swing is six games Mar. 10-31. The busiest day of the week for the 905 this season will be Thursday and Saturday with 11 games, both split with six home games and five road contests.
Raptors 905 will play 14 games in the month of January, split equally between home and road. December and January will be the busiest home months for the 905 with six games, while March will see the 905 away from Mississauga for a season-high seven contests. The team will participate in six back-to-backs this season, with two involving travel between contests.
The 905 will host its annual Scotiabank Arena game against the Capital City Go-Go Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. For the 2021-22 season, weekday home games will start at 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Weekend home games will tip exclusively at 2 p.m.
Information regarding ticketing and broadcast schedule will be available at a later date.
