RAPTORS 905 ANNOUNCE NEW ADDITIONS TO COACHING STAFF

Fortune Solomon, Joshua Henderson, and Brandon Leftwich join assistants Arsalan Jamil, Matt Gray, and Christian Siakam  

Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, announced Wednesday its coaching staff for the 2023-24 season. Head coach Eric Khoury returns for his second season with Raptors 905. Joining Coach Khoury’s bench are Fortune Solomon, Joshua Henderson, and Brandon Leftwich. Assistant coach Arsalan Jamil returns to the bench for his sixth season, while assistant coaches Matt Gray and Christian Siakam return for their second seasons with the club. 

Solomon joins Raptors 905 coaching staff with vast experience at the professional, national, and collegiate level. Most recently, Solomon was a part of the South Bay Lakers (NBAG) as an assistant coach where he was responsible for conducting team and individual workouts and creating opponent scouts. Prior to his time with the Lakers, Solomon was a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA) as a player development analyst from (2017-21). On the national level, Solomon was the top assistant coach for the South Sudan Men’s National Team, helping lead the team to its first Olympic berth in the country’s history in any sport. His first stint at the national level was with the Nigerian Senior Men’s National Team where he served as the head video coordinator. Solomon began his professional career as an intern with the Bakersfield Jam (formerly NBA D League), writing player evaluations for the Assistant General Manager and Director of Scouting. In 2013, Solomon earned his first collegiate opportunity as the head video coordinator at California State University, Bakersfield, with the men’s basketball team before joining the University of San Francisco men’s basketball program as a graduate assistant in 2014. Solomon also served as the video assistant for the Stanford men’s basketball team for two seasons (2015-17). 

Henderson comes to the Raptors 905 bench after spending the last four years (2019-23) with the Memphis Grizzlies as a player development coach. There, he focused on the development of two-way and assignment players and was responsible for producing post-game reports. Prior to his player development role, he served in the Grizzlies video room where he developed opponent scouts and live-coded games. He began his NBA career with the Indiana Pacers working within their video room (2017-19). There, he delivered daily reports to the coaching staff and aided on-court workouts. Henderson began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy (2016-17). Prior to his coaching career, he was a member of the Vanderbilt University Men’s Basketball team (NCAA) from 2010-16 where he served as team captain. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education from Vanderbilt. 

Leftwich joins Raptors 905 after spending the 2022-23 season as a player development coach with the Wisconsin Herd (NBAG). He began his professional career as the men’s basketball operations graduate assistant at George Washington University (NCAA). Prior to his coaching career, Leftwich was a member of the George Washington’s men’s basketball team from 2021-22 and Mount St. Mary (NCAA) men’s basketball team from 2016-20. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Mount St. Mary’s University, as well as a Masters in Sport Management from George Washington University.  

Raptors 905 now prepare for the 2023-24 NBA G League Draft on Oct. 28, 2023, before opening training camp on Oct. 30, 2023. The team tips off its regular season on Nov. 10, 2023, when it faces the Long Island Nets in Uniondale, N.Y.
